My work with Leeds City Council
In the west of our constituency, the Kippax and Methley ward comes under Leeds City Council, and includes the villages of Kippax, Methley, Allerton Bywater, Micklefield, Ledsham, Ledston and Lower Mickletown.
Background
In Leeds, elections are held in 3 of every 4 years, with local people having the opportunity to elect one local Councillor at each election. In Kippax and Methley ward, your local Councillors are as follows:
Councillor James Lewis (Labour)
Councillor Mary Harland (Labour)
Councillor Michael Millar (Labour)
You can find contact details for each of your Councillors here. They are often best-placed to assist with issues relating to Leeds City Council.

I've been working hard with your Leeds City Councillors to help make Kippax and Methley a great place to live. That's meant:

Education
Working to deliver two new school-based nurseries in Kippax, and making the village part of the pilot scheme for Labour's free breakfast clubs.

Transport
Pushing for improvements to local bus services as West Yorkshire moves towards franchising, delivering new buses, better timetables and keeping fares down from 2027.
Cost of living support
Securing Government funding for Leeds through the Household Support Fund, working with Councillors to see that cash payments were targeted to those just above the threshold for Pension Credit and the Winter Fuel Allowance in 2024/2025.

Local engagement
Working collaboratively to provide a great service to residents, with regular surgeries, drop-ins and visits to businesses and charities in the area.
With a Labour MP, Labour Council and Labour Government, we're working hard to deliver positive change for our part of Leeds.
