Labour MP, Keir Mather, has met with leaders at North Yorkshire Council to raise
concerns on behalf of his Selby constituents.
On a trip to Northallerton, over 40 miles away from Selby town centre, the MP held
meetings with a range of officers including the Council’s Chief Executive and the
Directors for the Environment and Resources.
Following the abolition of Selby District Council in 2023, North Yorkshire Council’s
unitary authority has taken key decisions for the area, including on planning and
infrastructure matters.
Speaking of his visit, Keir said “As Selby’s MP, I will always fight tirelessly for our local
area - to ensure that we get a fair deal from decision makers in Northallerton.”
“It’s really important to me that I have a good relationship with Council staff, so I can
take up issues on behalf of local people.”
“Everything that I do is informed by my conversations with constituents across Selby,
Sherburn and the many surrounding villages. During my meetings, I pushed on a range
of issues - including green waste charges, public transport changes, SEN provision and
the state of our roads.”
