About Keir
Keir was elected as your Labour Member of Parliament for Selby and Kippax in the 2024 General Election.
​
Born and educated locally in Brough, moving onto to study History and Politics at Wadham College, Oxford before receiving a Master of Public Policy degree at University College, Oxford.
​
Keir was first elected in the Selby and Ainsty by-election in July 2023 and was returned as the Member of Parliament for the new Selby and Kippax constituency in the 2024 General Election, with a majority of 10,195.
​
Keir has worked as a Parliamentary Researcher for Wes Streeting MP and as a Public Affairs Advisor for the Confederation of British Industry.
​
In Parliament, he has been fighting for the people of Selby on issues such as the cost of living crisis, SEND provision, rural crime, public transport and underperforming NHS services. Keir made his Maiden Speech in the House of Commons on 16th October 2023, during a debate on Early Years Provision.
​
Following the election of the Labour Government in July 2024, Keir serves HM’s Government as an Assistant Government Whip.
​
Keir lives in Selby and is a passionate supporter of the Rugby League team Hull KR.
